Ringgold police officer Blake Ballew, 27, is facing charges out of Catoosa County, Georgia on allegations he sexually assaulted a woman. Ballew was arrested following a investigation from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
Ballew was arrested on August 26, he was fired on the same day. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations opened an investigation last week after a woman walked into the Varnell Police Department to file a report against Ballew.
Ballew met the woman while on duty, and the assault also happened while he was on duty.
After interviews, review of the physical evidence, and consulting with the Lookout Mountain District Attorney’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations obtained warrants for the arrest of Ballew, 11 Alive News reports.
Ballew was arrested on charges of aggravated sexual assault, violation of oath of office and false imprisonment.
Ballew was booked into jail in Catoosa County on Monday. According to online jail records, he was released the same day. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
