Eric Glaser, an off-duty federal police officer with Naval Support Activity Monterey, was shot by Seaside Police in California early Friday morning at his home.
Details are minimal right now, but police had reportedly been called by friends of his wife at around 1:30 a.m. because she was drunk and needed an escort home.
[__KSBW reports__](http://www.ksbw.com/news/nps-security-officer-shot-by-seaside-police/34223102) that as police were preparing to escort her home, her 48-year-old federal police officer husband stepped out of the front door armed with a weapon.
A neighbor heard a male voice say, “You haven’t heard the last of me. I will be back,” but it is unclear who said that and under what context.
Following that statement, however, they reportedly heard 10 to 12 gunshots fired. It is unclear if any of the rounds were fired by Glaser.
The department has stated that he was shot by at least one officer. He was transported to the hospital and is in unknown condition, but was still alive on Saturday.
None of the officers involved in shooting him were injured, and have been placed on paid administrative leave.
> “The Seaside Police Department contacted the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office to conduct a thorough and independent investigation of the officer-involved-shooting. An administrative investigation will also be conducted by the Seaside Police Department,” Seaside police Cmdr. Judy Stradan told KSBW.
The names of the officers involved have not been made public. The department stated that this is due to “public safety concerns.”
The cop on cop incident creates an interesting dilemma for the usual cop apologists.
Will Glaser be called a thug who shouldn’t have broken the law?
Will the thin blue line stand with their officer who was shot?
Probably not.
