Wisconsin police were caught on video Friday punching a teenager in the face in a parking lot mall, followed up by another punch to his head after they had taken them down.
Now they claim they have another video that would show the teen physically fighting with them, which they say would justify the punches.
Only they have not released that video.
Wauwatosa police did not say whether they plan to release the footage, most likely believing that the general public will just take their word for it.
We shared the initial video on our Facebook page on Friday without much information about what led up to the incident.
By the following day, the local media in Wisconsin was on the story, prompting a press release by the Wauwatosa Police Chief where he mentioned the additional video.
According to CBS58:
Wauwatosa Police initially received a call from Mayfair Mall regarding 5 men inside the mall “acting disorderly and causing a disturbance” around 4:30 p.m.
Officers located several of the suspects in the parking lot of the mall and attempted to speak to them.
What happened next was caught on cell phone video. In a release, Wauwatosa Police stated: “We have been made aware of a video that is circulating on social media related to this incident. This video shows only a small segment of the interaction between the suspect and the officer.”
According to police, an additional video shows the officer attempting to speak with the man who allegedly refused to stop and speak with the officer. Police say that the suspect then began to physically fight with the officer who was attempting to “legally detain the suspect.”
Meanwhile, the Original Black Panthers of Milwaukee have been protesting against the incident, demanding that the cop and a security guard involved be fired, indicating the black teens were racially profiled by mall security.
The name of the teen has not been released but he is 17 years old and was charged with battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He has since been released.
