What cop steals from Wal-mart, like really? Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Henry Guzman stole from a Lauderdale Lakes, Fl Walmart while he was in uniform like it was legal. Guzman was able to steal hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise, including DVD movies such as “Fifty Shades Freed” and “Dirt,” and “Deadpool” and “Star Wars”.

[The Sun Sentinel reports](http://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/fl-sb-shoplifting-deputy-20180521-story.html) Guzman was arrested this week after the Broward County Sheriff’s Public Corruption Unit began investigating him after receiving a tip from Wal-mart asset protection employees. The tip stated that Guzman had been stealing from the Walmart store on 3001 N. State Road 7.
According to Guzman’s arrest report, Guzman walked into Wal-mart on May 2 in uniform and went straight to the electronics department and picked up several DVDs. He then headed to a toy aisle where he concealed two DVDs inside his inner vest and grabbed two Marvel action figures. Guzman then paid for one action figure and set the second aside. After the transaction was completed Guzman exited the store passing all points of sale with two DVDs concealed in his vest and one stolen action figure.
If that wasn’t enough, Guzman repeated his actions in uniform at least two more times at the same Walmart: Once on May 9 and once on May 17 where Guzman got away with at least four more DVDs.
This week when Guzman reported to work, he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor petit theft.
Guzman has been suspended with pay, but he is expected to be suspended without pay after the Broward State Attorney’s Office formally files charges.
Broward Sheriff Scott Israel had this to say concerning Guzman’s arrest:
> “Absolutely no one is above the law. His actions are disgraceful, and in no way are a reflection of the good, hardworking men and women of the Broward Sheriff’s Office. I commend the work of the Public Corruption Unit for its commitment to hold deputies accountable for any criminal activity.”
Guzman had previously been reprimanded for sleeping on duty, being involved in a preventable car crash and other offenses, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office records.
