VIDEO: NYPD Cop Shoots Man in Quarrel over Woman, then Plants Knife next to him

An off-duty NYPD cop who claimed he shot a man who was trying to rob him was caught on camera planting a knife near the body of the man he had shot.

It also turned out not to be a robbery but a quarrel over a woman.

The video shows New York City Police Sergeant Ritchard Blake pull a sheathed knife out of his back pocket and planting it next to the body of Thavone Santana, who remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound in his mouth, according to the [New York Times.](Moments after Sgt. Ritchard Blake shot and wounded a man who had confronted him amid a dispute over a woman they both knew, the sergeant patted down the man’s pockets as if looking for a weapon, surveillance footage shows. There was nothing there: The man was unarmed. But then Sergeant Blake, who was off-duty, pulled a sheath knife out of his back pocket and dropped it out of its covering beside the man, Thavone Santana, as he lay on a Brooklyn sidewalk, the video shows. After briefly pacing, Sergeant Blake picked it back up.)

Blake then paces back and forth and seems to notice the camera, which is when he picks the knife back up and places it back into his pocket.

The incident took place early Thursday morning at 5 a.m. in Queens as Blake was leaving his girlfriend’s home to report to duty at 7 a.m. The video, which includes on audio, shows Santana walk up behind Blake before the two face off with each other.

Blake then shoots him twice, striking him once in the mouth. He then pats him down and upon finding no weapons, pulls the weapon out of his pocket.

He later claimed Santana had his hands in this shorts pocket emulating a gun, which made him fear for his life. He also said he offered Santana his phones to make him go away but Santana continued to threaten him.

But his story fell apart less than 24 hours later after police watched the video and learned that Santana and Blake had been arguing earlier that morning at this girlfriend’s apartment.

On Monday, he is expected to be arrested, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.

But that will be nothing new for Blake who was arrested in 2016 for punching his then-girlfriend in the face. That record, of course, is now sealed as Blake continued working his beat, thanks to

However, now that the video has surfaced, police union reps are distancing themselves from Blake, writing him off as a rare bad apple.

“As the nuances of this unique case are reported, it is also important that the good work that police officers of all ranks do every day not be diminished in any way,” Sergeants Benevolent Association President Ed Mullins said.

On Thursday, the New York Post reported on the shooting portraying Blake as a victim turned hero, who valiantly defended himself from a murderous ex-con.

An off-duty NYPD sergeant on his way to work shot an ex-con who tried to rob him in Brooklyn early Thursday morning — and he has been placed on modified duty while the department investigates, police said.

The 40-year-old cop was walking to a nearby train station on Livonia Avenue near New Jersey Avenue in East New York around 5 a.m. when the man approached and allegedly pretended to have a gun in his pocket while he attempted to rob him, police sources told The Post.

“He was minding his business on his way to work, parks his car to take the train,” a law enforcement source said.

The cop, from the 109th precinct in Queens, fired two rounds, shooting the man once in the mouth, according to law enforcement sources.

The 21-year-old suspect was later determined not to be armed, police sources said.

“If you tell me you got a gun and you’re gonna rob me, I’m going to shoot your a–,” a police source said. “What am I supposed to do, wait for him to shoot me?”

But on Friday, the New York Post was singing a different tune.

The NYPD cop suspected of shooting a Brooklyn man in the face has a 10-year-old son with the woman over whom they were apparently quarreling — and is likely to get busted, law enforcement sources said Friday.

The unidentified woman, who also has other kids, has a past arrest for prostitution, sources said.

Sgt. Ritchard Blake, 40, was stripped of his badge and gun following the attack on ex-con Thavone Santana, 21, who was hit in the chin and is expected to recover.

Sources have said Blake claims he fired two shots when Santana tried to rob him around 5 a.m. Thursday on Livonia Avenue near New Jersey Avenue in East New York.

Edited surveillance video obtained by NBC 4 New York shows a confrontation between the two men on the sidewalk, during which Blake — who was off-duty and wearing civilian clothing — appears to draw a handgun before Santana winds up sprawled on the ground.

Sources said the unedited video shows Santana raising his hands before being shot.

The video also appears to show Blake place an object alongside Santana on the ground before walking around, picking it up and putting it into his pocket.

Blake is expected to be charged in the incident on Monday, sources said.

But remember, just because he is arrested does not mean he will lose his job.

Support our Mission

Help us build a database of bad cops

For almost 15 years, PINAC News has remained active despite continuous efforts by the government and Big Tech to shut us down by either arresting us for lawful activity or by restricting access to our readers under the pretense that we write about “social issues.”

Since we are forbidden from discussing social issues on social media, we have created forums on our site to allow us to fulfill our mission with as little restriction as possible. We welcome our readers to join our forums and support our mission by either donating, volunteering or both.

Our plan is to build a national database of bad cops obtained from public records maintained by local prosecutors. The goal is to teach our readers how to obtain these lists to ensure we cover every city, county and state in the country.

After all, the government has made it clear it will not police the police so the role falls upon us.

It will be our most ambitious project yet but it can only be done with your help.

But if we succeed, we will be able to keep innocent people out of prison.
