The Texas sheriff’s deputy that was charged with sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl while threatening her immigrant mother with deportation if she reported him was found dead in his cell Monday evening.
The Bexar County sheriff's deputy was found hanging in his single occupant cell and authorities believe his death was a suicide, according to KSAT.
Jose S. Nunez, 47, was originally charged with aggravated sexual assault but was later charged with super aggravated sexual assault of a child and had been in jail since June 17.
On that day, the child's mother reported the officer to her local fire department stating that she was in fear she would be deported back to Guatemala by reporting the rape.
