A south Florida cop shot a unarmed teenager on a day when people spend time and eat with their families.
Miami-Dade Officer Ronald Neubauer is the officer that shot the teenager on Thanksgiving Day at noon during a domestic disturbance.
In fact, this is Neubauer’s second shooting this year alone. In March Neubauer shot at a disoriented motorist that possessed a taser.
According to the Washington Post, on Nov. 22 Miami-Dade officers were called to a foster home on 30120 SW 146th Ave. The call was reference a 15-year-old foster child that was becoming violent with his guardians. The teen is bi-polar and officers were trying to remove him from the home.
The teen was very large and a physical altercation began.
It was then that Neubauer shot the teen in the lower torso. No weapon was found on the teen.
The teenager is currently in stable condition at Kendall Regional Medical Center. Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez said he has “more questions than answers” about why the officer fired his weapon.
Law-enforcement sources say they are exploring the possibility that the officer fired his weapon accidentally. Although Neubauer has yet to give a statement to agents, so far, there is no evidence that the teen did anything to put the cop’s life in peril.
Neubauer is a 28-year Miami-Dade police veteran, he has been placed on administrative duty per the Thanksgiving shooting.
