North Carolina Cop Kills Self After Sex Crimes with Child Accusation

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation says a Fayetteville police officer found dead was accused of sex crimes against a child.

32-year-old Wade Lane Lee Jr. was found dead Sunday January 27 on an interstate median from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Wilson, NC. Lee was a police officer with the Fayetteville Police Department.

The Fayetteville Police Department said Monday that it had received a criminal complaint against Lee on Friday January 25 regarding sex crimes involving a child.The Youth Services Unit and Internal Affairs Unit began an investigation and obtained arrest warrants for Lee on the same day of the complaint, ABC 11 reports.

City officials say the officer personally knew the child. The police department says the warrants have since been withdrawn due to Lee’s suicide.
