Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputy Timothy Brasier, 49, is accused of physically assaulting his wife for months. Deputy Brasier is also accused of having sex while on duty.
Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller said he met with the wife of Deputy Brasier on April 26. Mrs. Brasier alleged that Deputy Brasier had engaged in domestic violence with her over the last few months.
Deputy Brasier was immediately suspended without pay and surrendered his gun, badge and patrol vehicle, while the sheriff’s office asked the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to lead an investigation, WSPA News 7 reports.
An arrest warrant says SLED agents received statements that Deputy Brasier breached the public trust by engaging in sexual relations while on duty for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. The offense allegedly happened in multiple locations within Cherokee County.
Deputy Brasier was arrested on April 29 and charged with third-degree domestic violence and public official misconduct in office. Deputy Brasier was fired by the sheriff’s office after his arrest, he was a 19 year veteran on the force.
Sheriff Mueller said in a statement:
“We would ask the community to pray for all impacted as a result of this incident. This incident should remind and show the public that we have no problem in asking for an investigation or arresting any employee who thinks they are above the law and we will always to what is right to protect our officers’ and our agencies’ integrity.”
