A video uploaded to Facebook last week shows a police officer on the light rail in Baltimore manhandling a woman he suspected of not having the proper transit pass.
The officer is grabbing onto the woman in an attempt to arrest her as she keeps telling him to let her go.
He then tasers her and she falls to the floor where he then drags her off the transit car where he tries for several minutes to handcuff her.
It was only after several more cops came running up that they were finally able to handcuff her which is when the video ends.
The original video has been shared more than 2,500 times on Facebook with an overwhelming number of commenters criticizing police for their overly aggressive tactics.
It was only in December 2018 that Washington DC decriminalized fare evasion to a civil infraction because enforcement of those laws tended to focus on black people.
But in Maryland it is considered a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail. The fare for a one-way trip on the Baltimore light rail system is $1.80, which will increase to $1.90 on June 23.
It will cost the state much more than that to prosecute her for not paying the fare.
