A former Bulloch County sheriff’s deputy in Georgia was arrested on July 11 after resigning from his position following investigations into alleged child molestation.
United States Marshals arrested Travis Tuenge, 43, on charges of sexual exploitation of children and possession of child pornography. Tuenge was booked into the Burke County Detention Center.
Burke County Chief Deputy Lewis Blanchard confirmed Tuenge was held at the Burke County Detention Center.
According to WSAV News, on July 8, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate an allegation of child molestation made against Tuenge. Once the allegations were known, the sheriff’s office immediately relieved Tuenge of his duties and placed him on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Subsequently, Tuenge resigned from the sheriff’s office.
A search warrant revealed evidence that Tuenge was in possession of child pornography. As a result, Tuenge was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force without incident.
Tuenge had been employed by the sheriff’s office for 17 years.
