South Carolina Detention Officer Accused Of Having Sex With Inmate

Justin Bates, 23, is an officer at the Chester County Detention Center in South Carolina and is facing charges after authorities say he had sexual relations with an inmate. Bates is charged with two counts of Sex/First-Degree Sexual Misconduct with Inmate of Correctional Facility.

Bates was arrested Monday October 14 in connection to the incidents, the Herald Online reports.

According to arrest documents Bates allegedly had sex with a female inmate at the Chester County Detention Center on at least two occasions. The location of the alleged acts occurred were obscured from security cameras.

Arrest documents also claim Bates provided the female inmate with cigarettes and other contraband. Bates was fired from his job as a detention officer.
