While the Baltimore Police Department [__continues to deny it has no idea why they arrested Freddie Gray__](http://photographyisnotacrime.com/2015/04/man-dies-seven-day-after-beating-by-baltimore-police-who-still-wont-say-why-they-arrested-and-beat-him/) or how he ended up with a broken back, resulting in his death a week later, [__an incident report__](http://photographyisnotacrime.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/freddie-gray-charging-documents.pdf) has surfaced stating that the 27-year-old man “was arrested without force or incident.”
We know that to be a lie because two videos recorded by witnesses show Gray screaming in excruciating pain as several police officers drag him into the back of a police van.
It appears that his back had already been broken because his legs were dragging behind him.
“His legs broken, you’re all dragging him like that,” a woman yells as she records.
The report also states that Gray “fled unprovoked upon noticing police presence ” and that after they caught up with him and detained him, “the officer noticed a knife clipped to the inside of his front right pants pocket,” which turned out to be a switchblade, which is [__illegal in Maryland.__](http://photographyisnotacrime.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/maryland-knife-laws)
And the report states the knife was taken into possession by police.
However, if that is truly the case, then why haven’t police come out and said this?
